THE ULTIMATE GUIDE TO BB CREAMS
All the BB creams you can handle:
BB creams are the biggest thing in beauty right now, and no wonder: They make your skin look flawless while delivering amazing skincare benefits too.
But these moisturizer / foundation / SPF hybrids, with their laundry lists of features, can also be incredibly confusing. Are they the same as tinted moisturizers? Do they work for every skin tone? We tested a full lineup of BB creams to uncover the answers, and compiled everything you need to know about these new It-creams.

4 Key Facts About BB Creams:
What is a BB cream? Unfortunately, there’s no single answer. BB creams originated in Germany and exploded in Korea, where they were first used by laser treatment patients to ease post-procedure redness. But now that beauty consumers have embraced BBs, new formulas span a range of shades, textures and skincare benefits.
They’re NOT one shade fits all. Despite what some packages claim, we found a wide range of colors and they don’t all work with every skin tone. You may need to test a few formulas before you find a match.
BBs are best applied with a brush. Just like any complexion makeup, the key to making these tinted balms work is to blend, blend and blend some more. A foundation brush does the job better than fingers.
Layering brings the best results. Though some BB creams aim to replace your entire arsenal of face products, that’s not always realistic. If your skin is extra dry, you’ll want to prep with moisturizer so your BB’s pigment doesn’t stick to dry spots. Also, since most BBs have light to medium coverage, you’ll probably still need concealer for under-eye circles, blemishes, and other discolorations.
Which BB Cream is Right?
OLAY Total Effects 7-in-One Tone Correcting UV Moisturizer SPF 15 is one of the most lightweight of BB creams on the market and only $21.99 available at OLAY Total Effects also comes in Fair-to-Light, Light-to-Medium or Medium-to-Deep.
Olay calls this product a CC cream, the “color correction”-focused sequel to BBs, but the idea is the same. The swirled, dual-phase formula is ultra-light, so it might not replace your foundation. It does give skin a subtle, luminous glow with sheer coverage, and the neutral-toned Fair-to-Light shade was a favorite among our pale-skinned testers who found other BBs too dark.

Best For Pale Skin
Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25 PA++ This BB Cream only comes in one shade and is available at Sephora for $34.00
This cream comes from Korea, where BB is a big deal. Its corrective tone counteracts redness, making it ideal for fair complexions with pinkish undertones. The water-based formula soothes skin with a cooling effect and leaves a pretty, dewy finish.

Great for Darker Skin Tones:
Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfecter SPF 30 is available now at Maybelline for $7.44 and also comes In Light, Light-Medium, Medium, Medium-Deep, and Deep.
This sheer fluid has a smooth texture that makes blending easy, and the line features one of the darkest BB creams of any we tried. The Deep shade has a warm, caramel tint that helps counteract gray or sallow tones on darker complexions. And with five shades spanning the color range, light to medium skin tones will find a match, too.

Smoothest Texture:
Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfecter SPF 15 is a deal at Only $12.99 at Official Garnier and comes in Light, Light-Medium, Medium and Deep.
The first drugstore BB to launch in the U.S., Garnier’s version has enough coverage to stand in for foundation, and its slightly peachy tone makes skin look sun-kissed. But the biggest draw is its silky-smooth texture that blends flawlessly and blurs away pores.

Best For Uneven Complexions:
VICHY ProEVEN mineral BB Cream is $32.50 and available now at Official VICHY and comes in Light or Medium.
Not only does Vichy’s new BB cream cover dark spots short term with its medium coverage formula, the company’s study showed it helps even out skin tone in four weeks.

Best For Full Coverage:
Dior Hydra Life BB Crème SPF 30 – PA +++ Is a steal coming In at Only $56.00 and currently available at Sephora and comes in one shade.
Dior’s BB cream was the most pigmented of any we sampled and the closest stand-in for full coverage foundation. Medium skin tones seeking to add warmth to their complexions will do the best with this one; our fair-skinned testers found it too orange on a pale face.

Best Matte Finish:
Bobbi Brown BB Cream SPF 35 Is $42.00 at Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and currently comes in Extra Light, Light, Medium and Medium-Dark.
As far as our tester was concerned, this BB cream was just right—not too thick, not too sheer, and with a refined finish that wasn’t overly dewy.

Most Intriguing Active Ingredient:
Rodial BB Venom Skin Tint SPF 15 BB Is only $44.00 and available at Nordstrom.
While we found the shade names confusing (Capri just doesn’t convey color like “ivory” or “beige”), one feature made this BB stand out: Each tube is infused with the company’s signature ingredient, Syn-ake, an anti-aging compound made with synthetic snake venom. And no, it doesn’t BITE…

Dewiest Finish:
Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm SPF 20 Is Now available for only $32.00 at Sephora and also comes In Vanilla Glow, Cream Glow, Nude Glow, and In Beach Glow.
This BB’s lightweight formula feels amazing on the skin, but you’ll need concealer if you crave coverage. Its super-dewy finish leaves skin looking youthful and glow.

Best For Oily Skin:
L’Oréal Paris Studio Secrets Magic Skin Beautifier B.B. Cream Is Only $10.95 at L’Oreal in Fair, Light, Medium and Deep.
This BB cream is colorless until you blend it into skin, causing its pigment beads to burst (fun to watch!). If you have oily skin and can get past the beads’ initial grainy texture, you’ll love the way this primer-like balm gives a smooth, matte finish.

SKIN CARE TIPS FOR THE GUYS
Men’s skin care has come a long way from the days when your father would wash his face with a withered bar of soap and cover up shaving nicks with bits of toilet paper. Today, there are an overwhelming amount of products specially formulated to meet the needs of the stubborn (and stubbly) male epidermis. But navigating your way through the glut of grooming goods out there doesn’t have to be intimidating, and it shouldn’t be fussy either; a winning skin care regimen should be swift and simple to ensure that you’ll actually follow it. You can check your 12-step program at the bathroom door, because achieving better skin takes just 5 tips.
“One of the first visible signs of aging comes from the skin around the eyes. “

Top 3 things Men should do to their skin healthy as well to help reduce the early signs of aging. Top three core products: 1) A cleanser; 2) An exfoliant; and 3) A moisturizer. Skin around the eyes do exhibit the most drastic signs of aging – “an eye cream” will be your best friend…
Lip balm is the most overlooked tool in maintaining a great face. “If you do nothing else, cleansing is the single most important thing you can do for your face.”

1- Cleanse:
If you do nothing else, cleansing is the single most important thing you can do for your face. It should be the basis of your skin care regimen, but that doesn’t mean reaching for a simple bar of soap (which can overcompensate and leave your skin dryer than a desert). Men’s skin typically has large pores and very active sebaceous glands. While these glands are critical for keeping the skin naturally moist, they can often produce too much sebum, leaving your skin feeling greasier than an oil slick. Neglecting to wash away the excess oil and dirt can clog pores, which leaves the skin prone to breakouts. A basic gel works just fine, but not all facial cleansers are created equal. Look for one that is strong enough to cut through the grease and yet gentle and affordable enough to be used at least once a day.

2- Exfoliate:
Sometimes cleaning the skin with a simple face wash just isn’t enough. A cleanser washes away oil and dirt on the surface, but what about all that nasty stuff deep down in your pores? Even religious use of a face wash will still leave the most men’s skin feeling like a bumpy mess. That’s where exfoliation should make an appearance in your skin routine (just two to three times a week). It helps dislodge debris that normal washing can’t touch. A good scrub should have granules to help smooth the skin and eliminate the dullness that results from normal pore clogging and dirt build-up. Exfoliation also softens hair follicles for a closer, less-irritating shave and allows the skin to better absorb moisturizers.

3- Moisturize:
Skin care for most men starts and stops with a basic bar of soap or cleanser. But washing is the absolute least you can do to prevent your face from turning into a big blackhead. Even if you happen to live in a sauna, skin can get dry after showering and, over time, that godforsaken process known as aging makes it lose elasticity. Add all that to the horror of placing a sharp blade next to your face everyday to appease rigid HR standards for clean-cut wholesomeness, and you have a recipe for irritated skin that’s parched and taut. Showering and shaving open up pores and allow precious water to escape, but a light moisturizer can fix everything. It replenishes the skin’s moisture content and prevents razor burn. A moisturizer with SPF will also provide a critical shield against the sun. Harsh UVB rays cause the skin to burn, but it’s the UVA rays that lead to long-term damage like deep lines and skin cancer. A moisturizer with multispectrum defense takes care of it all.

4- Protect Your Eyes:
There is one place on the face that men almost never touch: the eyes. But the skin around the eyes is the only area that actually deserves special attention, because men don’t age the same way that women do. Instead of a slow progression of fine lines and wrinkles, men’s aging occurs in quantum leaps, and one of the first visible signs of aging comes from the skin around the eyes. The soft, thin layer of skin that surrounds the eye is especially prone to developing creases and crinkles long before other parts of the body begin to show their age. All of this can be prevented with regular use of an eye cream. It smooths and protects the skin, but requires serious commitment and proper usage. Applying eye cream once in a blue moon does nothing, and against all common sense, it shouldn’t be put on the soft skin underneath the eye. Instead, eye cream needs to be dabbed gently on the edge of the bone around the eye to maximize effectiveness and prevent irritation. It will slowly absorb and spread to the fragile areas that need it most.

5- Protect Your Lips:
A close second in fickleness to the skin around the eyes are the lips. The skin here is incredibly thin and prone to severe dryness, cracking, bleeding, and burning from exposure to the elements. That’s because the lips lack both oil glands to keep them naturally moist and melanin to provide protection against harmful UV rays. A little dryness and flaking every now and then sounds like no big deal, but over time the combination of sun exposure, stress and a small cut can lead to nasty cold sores. Herpes simplex, anyone? Forget first base. You can’t even leave the dugout with contagious crap like that on your face. Regular application of lip balm with a hint of SPF once a day can help you avoid a life of being benched.

Men’s Skin Care 101:
Great skin care for men doesn’t have to be wrought with expensive lotions and potions. And thankfully, taking care of your skin no longer carries the embarrassing stigma of metrosexuality. It’s just normal — even if your skin isn’t.
Luxury Skin Care DaviSkin.Com
Davi Skin History:
In 1966, Robert Mondavi founded a winery with a mission to create a California wine that would stand up to the elite wines of the world. Forty years later, his grandson Carlo Mondavi has ventured out form the family’s sacred Napa Valley Vineyards to create something alike in the skincare business. This luxury product not only reflects the California lifestyle fostered by his family’s wine, but performs better than the already established skincare regimes available today. He turned to what he knew best, as a third generation vinter, Carlo Mondavi has created a line of skincare with roots firmly planted in his family’s vineyards. The result is Davi, a line of luxury skincare encompassing the unique by-ofwine-making process coupled with the latest innovations in modern technology.
At the core of Davi’s products is a proprietary microencapsulated anti-aging antioxidant complex called Meritage. Created in close collaboration with laboratories in Lyon, France, Meritage is a unique blend of grape and fermented wine extracts, green tea, raspberry, black currant and bilberry extracts, rosemary and olive leaf extracts. Meritage is created through a unique double fermentation process and preserved in the formula until the moment it is applied to the skin.
Because it is microencapsulated, the select high-level antioxidants of Meritage are able to remain active on the skin hours longer than conventionally created products. Meritage’s sustained time-release technology provides a slow infusion of antioxidant health benefits to the skin. A daily regimen of Davi skincare restores and rejuvenates, leaving your skin the picture of health—young, radiant, and full of life. The Grape Seed Exfoliating Cleanser ($38.50) is formulated using the polyphenols found in grape leaf extracts and fermented grape extracts (from their own vineyard!). If you don’t know already, polyphenols has some of the strongest (if not the most) antioxidant properties, so you can ensure a good, tough, anti-aging cleanse.
What I love about Davi Crushed MOSCATO PURIFYING CLEANSER is that it features a concentration of Meritage, their own unique blend of fermented wine extracts, formulated with glycerin for effective cleansing, coconut derived emollient and grapeseed oil for smooth, lustrous skin, and our exclusive Meritage anti-aging complex. This blend of natural ingredients creates a shield to basically protect the skin and fight free radicals, which, as you know, lead to premature signs of aging.
The grape seeds and walnut powder is quite subtle too and not that harsh so is can be used it daily. My Celebrity clients love it and Davi’s products have been a part of my daily personal routine as well I use them on every client. The results are immediate and lasting. The moisturizers alone instantly rejuvinate the skin and instantly make them camera ready. To achieve that Hollywood glow I always use Davi Crushed Grape Seed Exfoliator 3-5 days prior to all red carpet events and you can see for yourself the results just beam. The results of this cleanser is just one product I would never live without!
A personal favorite of mine that I just cant seem to get enough is the Mens Le Grand Cru. Le Grand is formulated with moisturizing shea butter, free-radical-fighting antioxidants such as rosemary, green tea, grape extracts and vitamin E, as well as ginseng, witch hazel and allantoin, a botanical extract of the comfrey plant, for toning and astringent benefits, with its exclusive Meritage anti-aging complex.

2012 Spring & Summer Makeup Trends.
You can get away with smokey eyes in charcoals and browns all winter, but come spring? That’s when you’ve got to step up your beauty game. So I wanted to put together a cheat sheet for you guys of my top six beauty trends for this spring and summer — from the everyday-achievable porcelain skin to the seriously stunning bold and bright lips that rolled down so many runways in New York, Milan and Paris. While make-up can cause potential skin flare-ups, if you use the right products, you’ll be sure to look fabulous without any skin blunders! If you’re looking to update your makeup cabinet in the next few months, here’s what you should be buying: Bold Lips Some girls gravitate to this look naturally, and I will freely admit that I am not one of them. In fact, I put this first on the list because it’s probably the toughest one for me to conquer, which means that it should be first on my list to try. Bright reds, pinks, fuchsias, and oranges are the name of the game this spring, and I’m not talking about gloss. Matte lipstick is your best friend for this look, in part because it’ll stay put longer without losing the dramatic effect. If you’re feeling daring, go for an orange or purple tone, but if you want to stay current and still feel like yourself, pick out your favorite red and wear it proudly. Bright Blushes Just when you think you’ve conquered bold makeup colors, the bar gets raised. Those same pinks, fuchsias and corals you just got used to wearing on your lips… are now for cheeks! Don’t be afraid to play around at a makeup counter until you find one you’re comfortable wearing — I’ve fallen in love with Tom Ford’s blush in Wicked for this trend (very similar to the photo above), but it took me a little bit of time to get used to it! The best thing about a bright blush — you don’t have to reapply a hundred times a day! Dewy Skin As trends go, this is probably my favorite. It’s achievable on just about every skin type, incredibly flattering, and only requires a few products. The key here is twofold: you want moisturized, healthy skin, and then you want to get that sun-kissed, slightly bronzy look. To pump up the moisture in your face, cleanse and nourish skin with Simple Skincare’s Moisturizing Facial Wash, and then add 12-hour moisturization with theSimple Skincare Hydrating Light Moisturizer. Both of these are terrific beauty products for sensitive skin, so you can get that glowing, dewy-fresh look. On top of that, skip your foundation — use a tinted moisturizer or just concealer and a liquid bronzer to even out problem areas. You want t
illuminating powder (not a matte powder) and head out to the beach! Porcelain Skin This is the look for those of you who aren’t big makeup-wearers — because this is less about makeup and way more about skincare. To get radiant, porcelain skin, you probably need to start with a gentle cleanser and then keep your skin protected from the sun. A great cleanser for sensitive skin that I love (so much that I got this in January and already need another bottle) is Simple Skincare’s Refreshing Facial Wash Gelwhich leaves skin cleansed and revived. Follow up with a moisturizer with SPF that protects skin all day like Simple Skincare’s Vital Vitamin Day Cream, and keep your makeup in varying shades of nude — light peach blush, taupe shadow around the eyes, and a clear gloss. Let your skin be the star! Pastel Tones This looks so pretty when it’s done right! Keep everything minimal with this look, and then add a swipe of pastel blue, purple or green to your eyelids. It goes perfectly with the porcelain skin above! If you can’t bring yourself to try a pastel color, you can also do this look with a light silver shimmery shade — it’s a little more muted and easier to pull off, but still looks fresh and modern! Strong Brows and Lashes Stop plucking! Right now. Strong brows are everywhere this spring — those over-tweezed, plucked-into-oblivion brows are no more, and I, for one, am pretty happy they’re gone! Fill yours in until they grow back — a strong brow is nature’s way of framing your pretty eyes. And for eyelashes, if yours aren’t as long as you’d naturally like, fill them in with DIORSHOW mascara and add a few individual falsies at the end
